Weekly fire alarm test requirements are defined by BS5839. The tests should activate all audible, visual and voice alarms for a defined period.

The purpose of the test is to make sure the fire alarm system respond correctly also to ensure that occupants know what a fire alarm sounds (and looks) like.

A record of testing by date, time and break glass reference must also be kept in the system log book. Likewise staff should report any issues arising as a result of the weekly test.

Clients with either remote sites, or multi-tenant sites or where shift patterns vary, employ Titan to carry out this work on behalf of the Responsible Person.

Fees for the service are not prohibitive, and free up valuable resource to undertake other core duties.

Weekly fire alarm testing may be scheduled to combine with other periodical testing of other fire precautions equipment or other regular events such as a fire drill – all to satisfy compliance to Fire Legislation.
